Coordination assemblies based on a flexible tetrathiafulvalene derivative

چکیده

A tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivative bearing four peripheral 4-picolylthio units has been synthesized and employed for the formation of coordination assemblies with a series divalent metal salts, highlighting flexibility adaptability this ligand owing to rotation allowed around sulfur carbon atoms thiomethyl spacer. While [2 + 1] metallamacrocycle obtained tetrahedral Zn(NCS)2 node, 1D networks characterized by X-ray diffraction octahedral Cd(NCS)2, CdBr2, MnCl2 CoCl2 nodes. Within series, observed conformation TTF is same groups either above or below mean plane sulfur-rich core leading analogous arrangements. However, their packing differs depending on nature anions. Indeed, stacks cores form halide whereas dimers are in case thiocyanate system.

While TTF-dimethylviologen complex forms a mixed stack arrangement of donors and acceptors in its crystal structure, TTF donors aggregate with long alkyl groups by CH/pi and/or van der Waals interactions in a couple of TTF-heptylviologen complexes.
